Série HeartLife E3 (EP 7) : Journée mondiale du cœur : comment les infections augmentent votre risque de maladie cardiaque et d'accident vasculaire cérébral, et ce que vous pouvez faire pour les prévenir

E3 Webinar Series: Engage. Educate. Empower.

We are proud to continue E3: Engage, Educate, Empower, HeartLife's webinar series designed to connect lived experience with trusted clinical expertise, all centered on the topics that matter most to our community.

This World Heart Day session explores the connection between infections, inflammation, and cardiovascular risk. Emerging research suggests that vaccination may play an important role in protecting heart health, and together we will look at how infectious diseases can increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other heart-related conditions, and what you can do to help prevent them.

Dr. Jillianne Code will join the webinar as the patient speaker, sharing her personal experience with vaccines that help protect heart health and bringing perspective from her journey as a two-time heart transplant recipient. She is Co-Founder and President of the HeartLife Foundation, Canada Research Chair in Learner Agency, and an Associate Professor at UBC. A former Harvard postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Code is a leader in patient engagement and health advocacy, as well as a keynote speaker, award-winning educator, and blogger at heartfailuretoharvard.com.

Dr. Wayne Ghesquiere, a Clinical Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine consultant in Victoria, BC, will explore the science behind how vaccinations can help prevent cardiac disease, both for those with existing cardiac conditions and those without. Understanding the evidence will help us see why the consideration of vaccinations needs to happen outside the usual "fall flu season" discussion and how to take the preventive steps available to us.

The session will conclude with a moderated Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with the speakers.

Whether you are living with cardiovascular conditions, supporting someone who is, or looking to better understand your own heart health, this webinar offers education, insight, and empowerment you can take forward with confidence.
